Formation in the Faith is a lifelong endeavor. We take responsibility for learning about, growing in, and living our faith. it is the equivalent of our mature and intentional choice to live a full life by taking care of our bodies, and being nourished with a healthy diet, proper exercise, and healthy relationships. We offer opportunities for adult Catholics to learn, to grow, and to live their faith to the full.
Breaking Open the Word
Adult members meet each Sunday morning in the Office Annex (white house next door to church) at 10 AM. The group offers the opportunity to come closer to understanding God’s Word by exploring on a deeper level how God speaks to us in the Sunday readings. Join us for coffee, tea, hot chocolate and great fellowship empowered by the Word of God.

Centering Prayer is a means to deepen one’s prayer life by learning to “rest in God.” It is a method of consenting to the presence and action of Christ in the stillness of our being. The source of Centering Prayer as in all methods leading to Contemplative Prayer is the indwelling Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other types of prayer.
It is focused on developing a deeper relationship with Christ. The St. John’s Centering Prayer group begins with a 20 minute period of Centering Prayer followed by education on the concept and background to Centering Prayer and the Christian contemplative heritage and ends with experience based sharing on the prayer and its effects in daily life. The primary purpose of the group is to help continue the commitment to a regular practice of Centering Prayer.
We meet every Thursday in the O’Brien Family Room from 9:45 am to Noon. This is an interfaith practice, open to all Christian communities. It is simple to join the group, just come to a meeting.

We have need of married couples who are willing and able to assist the pastor in providing spiritual formation and human development opportunities to other married couples and their families, since these make up the majority of our parishioners. We hope to celebrate each year a simple get-together for those who have reached milestone anniversaries (multiples of 5, and every year after the 60th year), and hold up for our young people the beauty and holiness of the marriage commitment.
