St. Anthony House @ Pointe-a-Raquette, Haiti
The people of St. John the Evangelist Church partner with St. Louis King of France Parish at Pointe-a-Raquette, on the island of La Gonave, Haiti, to provide for the residents of St. Anthony House and the families assisted by the Food Program.
Through your directed donations since 2011, our parish supports St. Anthony House, a shelter for 5 elderly residents who are unable to care for themselves. In cooperation with the local St. Louis King of France Parish, we fund a food program that feeds approximately 50+ hungry people in the area.Father Augustin and their Food Committee identify Food Program recipients.
We are currently replacing the home you see above with a larger, more stable facility. At present, walls have been erected, a concrete roof applied, and windows are being completed.
Still needed are rough-casting to protect the outside of the facility, a dedicated cistern, cooking stove, furnishings, and an enclosure for the property.
The Parish of St. Louis King of France has designed and is constructing the new facility.
Our Food and Building Programs are funded separately. Please mark all donations clearly to support your chosen ministry.
