St. John the Evangelist Church is part of Virginia LARCUM (Lutheran-Anglican-Roman Catholic-United Methodist in Covenant).

LARCUM Virginia

Since 2017, a number of pastors of some churches in Waynesboro have begun gathering in ecumenical dialogue. We hope to implement various initiatives and infuse new life into some traditions that have kept us going these last few years. We are making strides beyond LARCUM to include our friends and neighbors in local Presbyterian, Baptist, Church of Christ in God, Mennonite, and Seventh Day Adventist churches.

In December 2018, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church hosted 4 weeks of scripture reflections on the gospel readings of the Sundays of Advent.

In February 2019, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church are hosting 4 weeks of ecumenical conversations and reflections on the LARCUM Covenant.

We look forward to celebrating Ash Wednesday services on March 6 in various different venues with participation from all our congregations.

As well, we look forward to the Palm Sunday Procession on April 14 at 10:00AM beginning with the blessing of palms at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, and processing to Main Street United Methodist Church by way of St. John's Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
