Parish Mission Statement
The Parish community of St. John the Evangelist is committed to follow the example of Jesus and so we are called to accept God’s challenge to “Come, Follow Me”. We commit ourselves: to proclaim the Gospel through meaningful liturgy, to address spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs appropriately, to provide ongoing spiritual formation and education of our people and to promote the value of Christian family life and the sanctity of all human life, to protect all of God’s creation and environment, to reconcile the alienated of the parish, especially those separated by culture, age and race, to minister to those who are homebound or physically and mentally challenged, to work for a more just social order, and to embrace the spirit of ecumenism. To fulfill the above commitments, we will give freely of our time, talents and finances in response to Christ’s call. Parish Council Peace Statement We, as members of the Parish Pastoral Council are charged to act in a "prophetic role". Therefore, as ministers to the community, we want to share with you a statement that underlines our belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and bears witness to our role in "reading the signs of the times". "We believe in the hope of everlasting peace. We believe that through prayer and personal commitment, peace can be realized. We invite you to join us in actively seeking peace whether it be through additional devotional time, regular fasting, the offering of a sacrifice, or your own personal offering in the hope of peace." May the Holy Spirit guide you through your journey for peace.
