Baptism Preparation (parents of infants and children age 6 and younger)

The growth of our parish in particular and the church at large takes place in one of two ways, when baptized members of other Christian communities come into full communion with the Catholic Church, and when we welcome new members through the waters of baptism. For most Catholics, incorporation into the people of God takes place in infancy with the celebration of Baptism. We need one or two married couples to work closely with the Pastor and the Director of Christian Formation for Adults to prepare parents to celebrate the baptism of their children (from birth to age 7). For baptisms beyond the age of 7, please refer to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (and Children): RCIA.

Marriage Preparation

Each year, the pastor prepares a number of young (and not so young) couples for the celebration of the sacrament of marriage. We need a pool of married couples who can assist in this preparation by meeting with the engaged couples to discuss the results of the FOCCUS Inventory (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding & Study) administered in the months prior to the wedding. Your wisdom and experience in your own marriage, including your struggles and acquired insight, will give that practical and realistic dimension to the preparation that the pastor does not possess. Your willingness to walk with these engaged couples will tell them of our concern for the life commitment they make, and your friendship will endure beyond the time of preparation.
